It is with pleasure that we bring to your attention the next grand martial arts entertainment event scheduled to be held in Kampala, Uganda over the Easter weekend on 16th April, 2017.
Xtra Kombat Africa’s Fight Series II follows Xtra Kombat Fight Series I that was held at Safaricom Indoor Arena, Kasarani in October 2016. Fighters from Zanzibar, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda will be competing for title belts in various weight categories and styles.
Part of Xtra Kombat’s mission is to provide a platform to help change the lives of the many talented youth in East Africa partner states, as well as inspiring the rest through healthy living and sports entertainment.
Fight Series II shall provide a good platform for team Kenya to prepare for the upcoming celebrations of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kenya and Thailand. Both countries shall be celebrating this important anniversary through an exciting and diverse range of cultural events designed to highlight the longstanding relationship.
Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand which was developed several hundreds of years ago, as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a weapon. Muay Thai as a form of striking and stand up fighting is growing in popularity in Kenya.
The centrepiece of the 50th anniversary schedule of events shall be an international Muay Thai competition tournament. This initiative under Xtra Kombat Fight Series III, shall involve upcoming Kenyan Muay Thai fighters challenging seasoned Muay Thai professional fighters from the rest of Africa and Thailand.
Xtra Kombat Fight Series III will be held in Nairobi in June 2017, and it will be bigger and better.
The Xtra Kombat Fight Series offer a good platform for brand promotion and corporate social responsibility. We believe that promoting and nurturing local talent is consistent with the mission and interest of many companies and hope that most companies will find it it in their hearts and budget to support team Kenya’s participation in Fight Series II.
